DELAYED COMPLICATIONS OF CENTRAL VENOUS CATHETER IN PATIENTS UNDERWENT BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION IN SULAIMANI CITY/IRAQ

Background: Central venous catheter is essential in the management of patients undergoing bone marrow transplants, however, insertion it has often potential inducing major complications. Aim: The aim study was to assess central catheter-related complications underwent transplants. Methodology: A retrospective carried out at Shahid Shaswary Garmian for transplantation Sulaimani City on 112 adult who transplants from June 2016 May 2021. patient's medical records were used collect data regarding; patients' and CVCs characteristics, intravenous infusions, CVC-related complications; number type complication. Results: age 52.7% between 40-60 years, most them male, primary school, urban. diagnosis (43.8%) multiple myeloma, majority autologous transplant, Hickman line 48.2%, internal jugular vein a vein, length stay with almost 70% 2 3 weeks, had dressing per week, participants received bags Fresenius, 51.8% blood, 92% platelet. occurred 65.2% participants, varied; 42% one, 19.6% two, 3.6% three complications, proportion fibrin 42.9% followed by infection 32.1, occlusion 10.7%, hematoma 7.1%. incidence higher leukemic patients, allogeneic 88.9%. In addition, using 90%, long (≥ 4 weeks) 89.3% fewer (1 dressing/week) 100% more problematic. Conclusions: high, two-thirds least one common infection. affects diagnosis, transplant catheter, duration dressings catheters sit.
